"The best party you've ever been to. Bright lights, loud music, sweaty people in fabulous clothes, and maybe a few too many chemicals and hormones pumping through your bloodstream and sending your brain surfing on waves of overstimulation. Was it all real, an amazing dream, or maybe just a photograph by one Danica Burdick? Despite, or more likely because of her young age, Danica's vivid eye behind the camera has proven her a fledgling force in the modern photography scene. She's equally at ease in the whirlwind of a house party at it's rowdiest peak, the laser-guided bombast of an arena rock show, or the decrepit bowels of the dirtiest dive bar, and her best work seamlessly blurs the lines of all three. "I am constantly getting inspired," Burdick says. "I've always loved rock and roll and wanted to be a part of the scene, instead of just a fan. "Rock and roll inspires me. I try to be raw. [Some of] my film pictures scare the hell out of me. There's something in those prints, something real. I get so much out of [my photography], it's unbelievable." Often evoking the decadent imagery a Warhol warehouse party, her unique, vibrant vision is capable of capturing the wild spontaneity of a lead singer onstage, a pensive bass player catching a quick smoke break, or even just her best friends posing in a bedroom with equal charm and emotion. Recalling her experiences working with Burdick, model and frequent muse Marissa Clay declares, "Working with Danica is one of the most rewarding things I have ever experienced. Her willingness to do anything possible to get a good shot, whether it's going at at two in the morning, or in twenty degree weather, she will be out there making sure she captures everything. As a photographer, she uses the camera as part of herself, it's able to guide her through events and experiences. She possesses something behind the camera that few other people can say they do." In 2014, Danica plans to expand her artistic territory into the hip-hop and electronic music scenes, while retaining the grisly purity of her work spent grinding in rock shows throughout New York and beyond. Her budding talent will only continue to flourish as her experience grows, and what the future holds for this promising artist is anyone's guess. Experiences can be fleeting but a great photograph can last forever. Luckily Danica Burdick is here to capture it all for us."
